Airbnb SuperBrand Microsite
Airbnb wanted to create an engaging online experience that encourages their employees to share their work, learn from each other, and build a strong community of creative collaborators.
The website was password protected for internal access and collaboration, but was also designed with public visibility in mind for certain pages. Airbnb wanted everyone to be able to see more of the amazing work they do, and to learn more about all of the interesting projects, programs, campaigns, and initiatives that they are a part of. The end result was a thorough microsite that was used as both an internal collaborative tool and a public facing portfolio of their creative work.

Homepage Scroll
The homepage needed to appeal to both internal employees and external public viewers. It needed to feel like a window into the unique personality of Airbnb while also demonstrating the creativity and determination that is involved in the work they do. This was the official introduction to what Airbnb calls “SuperBrand Marketing” and it needed to set the tone for the site as being both an educational tool as well as a source for inspiration and collaboration.

Airbnb is known for being thoughtful and thorough, and this site was no exception. The content was robust and I needed to design a system that could accommodate for a lot of dense information, while staying on brand, and never feeling overwhelming to those who visit the site. Finding the right balance and hierarchy was key to creating a flexible system that highlighted all of the information, while pacing it out visually in a way that provided enough breathing room to keep the eye moving. It needed to be a marriage of high functionality and moments of playful personality.
