Custom Code Mural

DoorDash wanted a custom mural to set the tone for their developers in San Francisco and act as a visual identifier for the area where they sit in the SF headquarters. They wanted something that would get the developers excited to come to work everyday and encourage them to feel proud of the important work they do.

I created a custom mural that was designed to look like a circuitboard from a distance, but something else entirely up close. The closer you get, the more you’re able to see that the circuitboard is actually coded with thousands of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks — A visual representation of all the hard work and thousands of moving pieces that go on behind the scenes to make things appear simple and seamless from a distance.

Easter Egg

A coded message is hidden on one of the walls in the developer department and features the word “DoorDash” in flames. This custom code is something that DoorDash developers have had embedded in the back end of their app since the company first started, so it was a nice way of adding a bit of that history, while also giving an homage to the work they do and how far they have come.
