Logo + Geometry – Logo = Gate

Custom gate designed for the office space of a unique Bay Area client. This company does incredibly innovative work and they are at the forefront of science, medicine, and technology. However, due to the confidential nature of their work, they need to keep most of it private.

For their public lobby experience, the client wanted to create something extra special that could highlight their company and the amazing work they do, while also being conscious of the confidential nature of that work. The entry gate uses the geometry of the company’s logo as the infrastructure, but the logo itself is removed so that only the geometry remains. Colorful lenses have been used in select circular areas as an abstract window into to the scientific, creative, and cutting edge work they do.

Gate Detail

The frame was constructed using weathered corten steel that was welded on site, and custom dichroic acrylic was used as an inlay for select circular areas. The dichroic lenses create unique, colorful windows at eye level and have a holographic affect that appears to change color as a person walks by. Clear acrylic was also used in the large circular areas around the two large doors for security purposes.
