XYZ Exhibition

The purpose of this exhibition was to demonstrate how beneficial it is to examine things from different perspectives. The goal was, and still is, to encourage people to really observe and evaluate what’s presented to them, as objectively as possible, instead of taking things at face value and thinking that is the “Truth”. It’s always helpful to look at things from different points of view, to collaborate with others, and to think, explore, and examine things through different lenses, because we can never really see the whole picture from one perspective.

Dimensional Typography

All 26 letters of the English alphabet were designed as dimensional objects. Each pair of adjacent letters (AB, CD, EF, etc.) were combined and extruded through each other using Rhino, a 3D modeling program, in order to create 13 abstract typographic sculptures. Those typographic sculptures were 3D printed, sanded down, and spray painted. Custom pedestals were then designed and built to display each typographic sculpture. The pedestals were all spaced 6ft apart, which is the standard width of a doorway. This way, people could permeate through the installation, walk around each sculpture, and experience it all from any perspective they wanted – including the type specimen posters and video animation.

Poster Series

All 13 typographic sculptures were designed, rendered, and animated in Cinema 4D. The poster series shows 4 different perspectives in 4 different windows in Cinema 4D. Those windows help to see things from different angles (top, left, right, and isometric). For the final poster series, I used those 4 different viewpoints to highlight the benefit of looking at things from different perspectives.
